Creosote has wandered in.
I see some familiar names from elsewhere.

Good luck with the site, keep it UK focused, free of animated advertising, sensibly moderated and I reckon you'll do well.

Welcome Creo, I think your observations for success are accurate, and are exactly the reasons for this site existing.

EDIT: Is that avatar a true representation of you ? :)

Why the surprise!:D

Gord (owner/admin) and PowerPenguin (first mod) asked me a few days ago. Both are members of GolfMagic too so know me from there.

Hi Creosote.

Welcome to Moongolfer. And thanks for the encouragement.

Regarding advertising, my intention is to keep it to a minimum. At some point there will be some, but low-key and not intrusive. A forum i admire and subscribe to is www.yorkshire-divers.com (http://www.yorkshire-divers.com) : check it out to see the max extent of advertising / sponsorship i would be willing to have here.

Cheers.

Advertising brings a revenue stream which is an essential for the longer term viability of the site.
But there are ways to do it that achieve the advertisers requirements. while still making the site visually appealing and navigable, something the GM chappies have never grasped.
Sounds like you have your head screwed on, and will do well.

Oh, and you need to make me a mod for techie golf stuff as no-one else seems to know shit :)

You don't need to be a mod to post!

You obviously know my thoughts re:moderation, but Gord is in charge here and so I've done very little moderation (as per instructions) and hope it continues like that :) More time for posting! :)

Hi Keve.

Welcome to MG.

What's with the cheese, btw?

We had a wine and cheese in teh office on friday afternoon. I was driving and couldn't therefore drink, but i did eat all the cheese :D :D oh yes!

I ate:
* 1 wedge of edam;
* 1 full disk of goats cheese;
* approx 200g cheddar
* bunch of grapes
* 1 apple
* 1/2 disk of camembert
* assorted crackers

It was good. :cool:

huh?

maybe moongolfer is made of blue cheese ... :rolleyes:

I also just had cheese on toast for supper. but it was good: fresh crusty bread, cut thick. Some nice cheddar cut in generous slices, with fresh tomato and herbs, salt and peppar on the top. Who needs pizza. Washed down with a cup of nambarrie tea (i'll bet Darren Clark drinks Nambarrie!)

Gord, it mainly stems from golfrewind, where we first bumped into each other....!
