Proposed by me that is...
How about, you are allowed to carry as many clubs as you care to, but in that round you can only use 14?
OK it means keeping tabs on which clubs you've used but it could get quite interesting towards the end of a round when finding you need say a 6 iron but have to go 5 or 7.

I propose that due to technology making courses shorter,Wedge and groove technology alowing any Sunday hacker to be able to at least be able to gain some sort of control of shots from "off the fairway",general club design and shaft technology making forgiveness available to everyone and the advent of long, short, medium, belly and long putters even making that side of the game somewhat easier to master, the number of clubs allowed to be carried should be less than the current 14.
This wouldnt bring in the possibility of not having the club you need for every shot,it would make it an outright certainty.
I would go for 12 or even 10 clubs at a push, leave groove technology,Driver COR,ball speeds etc at todays levels and hopefully bring back creativity, imagination, skill, touch and encourage people to actually play the game and not be so "robotic".

I propose that you're not allowed to take more than three balls on the course. Lose them and you walk in - no "pick me up" continuity.
Also, I'd revoke the provisional ball rule. If it's gone, you tee off again and that's the ball in play, no feckin' about.
Of course, I'd only complete the full eighteen half the time, but it would a get a lot of the others too ;)

Like the idea! But would need to be able to start on the back 9 to experience some of the holes on certain courses (The Shire for example!)
BTW. Provisional Ball rule was brought in to speed up play - just as identifying ball in hazzard this time around!

I do like this one TP. I reckon I would actually play better if I knew I had a limited supply of balls. This happened by chance sometime last yaer playing by myself when I realised I only had two balls. I got to the 15th before having to call the marshall to bring more!
