What's in Dave's Bag?

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/bag1.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/baghc.jpg

The whole bag. The tour bag is mostly used in summer, and then when it gets to about this time of year I switch to Ping Hoofer Vantage. It's less hassle really, the trolley used to get loads of mud and stuff in the boot of the car. Hoofer Vantage is expensive, but worth it. MightyMoose is on the driver, and PowerPenguin on the fairway.

Loft: 9.5°
Shaft: Fujikura Silver Series
Flex: Stiff
Length: 45.00"
Swingweight: D2
Grip: Golf Pride MCC Pink

This is the big stick, a Cleveland HiBore (9.5) with the stock Fuji in stiff flex. Keeps the ball flight at a good level, seems to have increased carry distance. Straightest thing I have ever hit, and pretty long despite reports.

Fairway Wood

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/4woodadd.jpg

Loft: 17°
Shaft: Grafalloy NZ SIX (Awaiting Installment)
Flex: Stiff
Length: 43.00"
Swingweight: D3
Grip: Winn+ G8 Black/Red

This is a Nike T60 4 wood (17) with a stock Speedstep shaft in stiff. This is going to be replaced soon to try and keep the ball flight a little lower.

Hybrid

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/tp19.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/tpaddress.jpg

Loft: 19°
Shaft: Fujikura Banzai (Awaiting Install)
Flex: Stiff
Length: 40.50"
Swingweight: D3
Grip: Winn+ G8 Black

This is my TP Dual, with an S300. Purchased from Daff on here () and is the most reliable club inthe bag right now. As long as anything, can even give the 4 wood a run for its money if I nut it. :eekw:

Irons

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/6iron.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/ironadd.jpg

Lofts: Standard
Lies: 2° upright
Shafts: True Temper CS Lite
Flexes: Stiff
Lengths: Standard
Grips: Golf Pride Ping

I love these irons. They are absolutely perfect for me. They are the right shape, great headshape I think. They feel good for a cast iron, and forgiveness is on a par with larger, more chunky game improvement irons. Not everyone is a fan of Ping irons, but I think these are great pieces of kit. They are green dot (2 degrees upright) but I painted the dot black because I don't like green.

52 and 56 wedges

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/52.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/52address.jpg

Loft: 52° and 56°
Lie: 2° up
Shaft: True Temper Dynamic Gold
Flex: S300
Length: Standard
Grip: Golf Pride Ping

These are fairly recent additions to the bag. Again, some people say they don't like the looks, and I admit that there are better looking wedges available. But, these have a heavy head, which I find helps me accelerate through the ball. I really don't like wedges that are to light. These are also green dot, haven't got round to painting them yet, and have Dynamic Gold S300 shafts.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/g2face.jpg

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/alltheflatsticks.jpg

Model: G2 Anser
Length: 34.50"
Grip: Winn+ AVS

I'm trying to stick with one putter for more than a month now, and currently in the bag is a G2 Anser. This is 34" long, with a Winn+ AVS Ping grip. I paintfilled the bumpers with some pink nail varnish. However, I rotate the putters quite often!

Other stuff

I actually got that off my mate. I have no idea where he got it from, I think he said eBay in the states. Cost me not very much at all, I think it was about £30-£40 something like that.

If you've got loads of putters and your putting is not consistant, I reckon you should choose one putter and stick to it and sell the rest, this will resist the urge to change your putter when you're putting poor.

If I were you, I'd stick with the YES! putter and sell the rest :)

He didn't use a blade for a while this year, used something really similar to a Voodoo, but a bit smaller.

He always putted better with a belly putter, like he did throughout '04 when he won loads of tournaments and became World Number 1.

HiBore on the way out then Dave?

Your comment on visors making you look 'like a twat' made me laugh! :D Same here, I haven't got the right head to wear visors or even bog-standard hats :(

With the putters, I'd stick with the blade Yes! putter, looks unfussy at address and generally is a great putter :)

My hair is too long to wear visors! It just pushes my hair up and makes my head look about 6 inches taller than it actually is! I look better with hats, but an interesting thing happened in the summer. I played golf every day pretty much, always wearing a hat. By the end of the summer my hair had started to curlaround the 'hat line'! It looked good when I was wearing a hat, I looked a bit like how Adam Scott had his hair when it was long, but when I took my hat off, I stuck out and I looked like a clown! :rolleyesw:

The Hibore went yesterday!

The Corza is also on it's way out next week too, back to it's owner! :rolleyesw:

What's the deal with the R7 fairway wood shaft for the putter? I agree with Alex, sell the putters and keep practicing with one, otherwise you just change putters instead of practicing your putting

Its just the headcover I put there because it looked odd without one behind it. I don't actually use it on the putter.

I like them though. The Voodoo is really nice, and the Doc is money on short putters, bit inconsistent on longer ones. Plus it was free.

I think thats true if you just change putters in the hope that it will make the difference, but if practice a consistant stroke and they change putters to get a bit more confidence, i don't think you can do too much harm.
You will need to practice lag putting to get used to the new feel though :radar:

I agree with that but sometimes if you are putting poorly you're tinking "Oh, this putter doesn't work" when it's actually you. Better to recognise that and work on it then

Agree 100%
Tigers a great example, used the same flat stick for many years and has total confidence in it and has said he would be reluctant to change it.
Although a perfect stroke does help just a bit!

Despite swearing I would never buy a Taylormade product again, I have got myself a Rescue Dual TP (thanks to Daff!). It has an S300 shaft, which may be a slight gamble, and is set up with the 6g weight in the heel, and 2g in the toe. It has a Golf Pride MCC grip in Red/Black.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p50/PowerPenguin20/tpdual.jpg

I have also purchased a new carry bag, which I was planning on using until I bought an electric trolley. Problem is, first impressions are so good I might use it all year! I like the cooler pocket as you can see in one of the pics, and the pocket number and sizing seems excellent. Now if I can just work out how to use the strap system, I will be fine!

The TP Dual is an absolute godsend!!! Long from the tee (as long as an X Hot 3 wood!) and great of a fairway lie too. I was a tad worried that the TP head and S300 shaft combo would be to much to handle, but it goes high, long and straight, I couldn't ask for more. The T60 7 wood is well and truly redundant now!

The Hoofer Vantage is a bit of a let down considering it cost me £105. To me, the club don't sit quite right, probably due to the base sitting flat on the floor. I'm also a little concerned about the straps, in as much as I'm not sure how long the retracting strap will last.
It does have good points mind. Lots of pockets, though the tee pocket is a tad small, and the insulated pocket is trés useful. Rainhood is quite complext to get on but is very functional once it is.
All pockets have waterproof zippers, and the waterbottle pocket has a drain (ie a hole) in case of leakage. And of course it looks good, and says Ping.

The SQ Max is in the bag with the Aldila NV, was trialling a G5 but that has gone back to it's owner for now.

Well it's a damn sight better that my old TM Tatlite 3.5 or something, which was heavy, poorly made and fell to bits. I did fall over and sit on the leg too, but it shouldn't bend like that!!! :spinny:

Ping bags look ace anyway, they sit so much better than other stand bags. Plus there might be a reason all the US and Canada colleges use them as team bags.

Anyway, have you ever said anything nice about my gear at all, ever?
