Following on from this thread (http://www.moongolfer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6513)

Hi All,
Decided to make another thread due to getting 3 different prices from 3 different people at Stranraer Golf Club. Thankfully every time I call it gets better. Details below.

Venue - Stranraer Golf Club
Date - Sunday the 21st October 2007
Tee reserved from 10:30
Cost - £20 green fee's including bacon roll on arrival, £5 for 2 course evening meal and £10 prize fund giving a total of £35.

Confirmed attendee's
Chopper (deposit paid)
John C (deposit paid)
Big Jim (paid in full)
Troon Stevie
Keve (deposit paid)
True Blue (deposit paid for both rounds)
Old Novice (deposit paid for both rounds)
Misters 3 (deposits, room paid)
Darth Fader (deposit paid) WITHDRAWN
Tom Mc (deposit paid)
Cliche (paid in full)

I have reserved 12 places, so at this point there is places available. A few people have expressed an interested but they have said they will confirm nearer the time.
I would like a £10 deposit and will pm the people above with payment details.
I have sent a cheque to SGC for the deposit today.
I hope not but please don't be surprised if it is slightly dearer as I have taken the liberty of using the lowest cost quoted to me but rest assured I will not take any talk of higher cost easily.
A number of people have said that they are interested in making a weekend of it. I hear great things about Southerness Golf Club. The cost per round on thier website is £55. Closer to Stranrae Golf Club is Port Patrick Golf Club, I am told it is nice but not as good as Stranraer. The price quoted on website is £35. I would prefer to pay the extra for Southerness but please use the links below and give your opinion. I will speak to either of the courses regarding a deal after getting the views of those confirmed.

Hotel options for Stranraer are limited going by Google search. I have found 2 hotels both of which seem okay. The George Metro Hotel is £38 B&B and the North West Castle Hotel is £54 B&B. Both prices are for twin rooms. The North West Castle seems to be the nicer of the hoteles but I would think the George is more than adequate. With the George you actually get a suite with a seperate lounge area. Again those who are attending on the Saturday please use the links and post your preference. Below are a list of people who have expressed interest in staying on the Saturday.

Saturday Attendee's (with accommadation details)
Chopper (George Metro)
Old Novice (B&B)
Misters3 (George Metro)
Darth Fader (George Metro)
Troon Stevie (George Metro)
Tom Mc (George Metro)
True Blue (Northwest Castle)

I'd like to come and join you lot but this depend on me sweet talking the Mrs as I'll be flying off to London the following Wednesday to go and play Walton Heath on the Thursday and the Berkshire on the Friday, so I might be pushing my luck especially as I've not told her I'm planning on staying down till Sunday night.....but I'll try

Shoes are out sadly for me and anything Gucci is in :eekw: A Gucci bag was bought cheapish from TKMaxx and that started this bloody trend, flew via Heather on route to France the other week and she just had to get the purse that match the bag.....worse thing was the tiny purse was more expensive than the big bag

I'll never slag off Primark again

I'll happily play either course as I think both are reasonably well regarded.

I could be up for Saturday if played at Southerness. I could either travel from Peebles in the morning if you play around 11.30ish - it will take 2 hours I guess.

The other choice would have been to stay over on Friday night, play and go to Peebles after the game. But this option is a logistical nightmare as it would involve my father in law coming to pick the missus up from Moffat or Biggar which I don't think that my heavily pregnant missus will appreciate!

True Blue
12-09-2007, 09:46 AM
Mas, why not drive upto to Peebles on Friday, play Southerness on Sat, stay over, Stranraer on Sunday and pick up the missus on the way home!

As I would like to keep my balls intacted for starters! I will have to spend some time with the outlaws, otherwise they will want to come and stay at my place.

Don't think I'll be able to do the Saturday - looks like I'll be away most of October, so stretching the absence for another roond of golf might see me losing a couple of balls that'd cost more than 2 quid to replace....

Spoke to Southerness and Port Patrick today. Available tee times are Southerness 10:45 or 14:00, Port Patrick 14:08. I would prefer to play Southerness, its just a question of light if we tee off at 14:00. I can make either time but there is potentially people who can't.

If most of the guys want to play early then I will make my way up for Sat night and meet you all Sunday. If you choose the 2pm then I will be there!

Just back from the land of the rising sun and firstly would like to thank Misters3 for his help in my absence, CHEERS!!!!
I've updated the thread and as I see it there is a place left for each day for the number of players that it is currently booked for, this not to say that if we get a few people wanting to go at the last minute another tee time won't be booked but unfortunately I think it unlikely to be the case. Point being if your thinking of going and not got round to letting me know, get the finger ooot.
If I have missed anyone out from the list of people going, please let me know.

Someone has raised a concern that if we play at 2 on the Saturday there will not be enough time to have a few refreshments at night. Now I can play at the earlier time (10:45), my only concern is the amount of people who possibly can't. Please let me know who has an issue with moving it earlier. I know TB may struggle.
Could the people who have not sent me a deposit could they pease do so also the people who intend to play Southerness please send me a further £10 deposit.
I also thought it would be better to increase the cost for the Sunday from £30 to £35, this figure being less than what was originally quoted. It would allow me to get better prizes. With there only being 12 people the prize fund at £5 is a bit low. If anybody has an issue with this please let me know.

was also thinking about the 2pm start - 4 - 4 1\2 hours for the round will take us to 6.30 which might not b to good with the light to finish the round!!!
then a bite to eat takes us to about 8 then a 2 hr drive to stranraer!!!

might b an idea to choose a course closer to stranraer???

2 tee times booked at Southerness from 10:45. Should finish around 3, hour in the bar, should be in Stranraer for 5:30 to 6:00. 75 mile drive aprrox 1hr 40mins. So thats it, everything booked. Here's to a good weekend.
Take it nobody had an issue with the £5 increase, if I don't here otherwise by the weekend I will purchase the prizes. Nice prizes for some bugger.

Could the people who have not paid deposits, please do so. I have paid deposits for the golf and reserved rooms on my credit card. At this point my outgoings still outweigh what I have received. If you have sent me payment could you please let me know as there is a postal strike about to commence. Appreciate your assistance, I would prefer not to send pm's.

Grrrrr :o

Jim - sold my TM Rac TP's at WofG range on Monday to Fraser McNeil from your club - 15 year old 6Handicapper. Told me he and his mate fished out quite a few pro v1's from the 10th? (par 3 after the hut)
