Had my first round with this club today, and have to say I really like it. What with the weight I've lost and having been off the smokes for almost a week and having a spare bit of cash burning a hole in my bank account, I decided to treat myself. I bought the 19* model with the stiff UST V2 Proforce shaft installed. With a few of my mates saying "you'll never be able to hit that, its like a poker", I revelled at the chance to prove them wrong. Ok, so I didn't hit it off the first tee, and went with my normal driver, but I did whack it a couple of times into the warm up net, and it felt really solid. My scorecard was wrecked by the 7th hole, so I decided it was time for a wee play, and out came the 585 for its first outing on the 7th tee. I hit a small cut into the rough, but hit it a fair distance. On the 8th tee, I hit a lovely high draw, but I still felt like I had to jump at the fecker, those "poker" words still ringing in my head. My 190 yard approach to the 10th saw the 585 bounce on the green and run over, my 11th tee shot was another lovely high draw right around the dogleg, but by the 17th I was creaming the sucker long and straight. I know the blurb says that these are aimed at the "better player", but these are words that never worry me, my ball striking being the best part of my game, and all the other hybrids/rescues on the market have too much offset, and are toed in too much for me, and I only end up hooking the life out of them. The 585 has no offset, and sits nice and square at address. I can hit it straight, draw it, fade it, or hook it at will. It has found a firm place in my bag and has dispatched the 64* wedge, for now. Plus, in my eyes, its one of the nicest looking hybrids on the market at the moment. The UST shaft feels just perfect, and the ball flight and trajectory is very piercing, and just goes forever. It is an expensive club, but I've always found that you get what you pay for, and now havig sampled Titleist gear, I will say that its quality is second to no-one. I can see me jumping ship very handy next year, when I intend to change my bag completely and get custom fit properly.
I also had a chance to try out my mates 907 D2 with the same shaft in it, but thats another thread. :D (In short, I likey that as well ;))

Next stop for Colossus is Bramton where Titleist/Cobra fit out their equipment. What a day out they give to the customer. I,ve been and got my Carbon Cb's built by one of their tech's who builds clubs for the tour players. I have hit everything golf has ever sold in a golf shop. Colossus knows this, "im a perfect shopaholic" well I was until getting my hands on a wonderfull set of custom fitted irons....

I really like mine, and I'm considering a 19 or 21 degree - kicking the 5 wood out. I'm considering a nippon steel shaft to match my irons, to keep the feel the same up from my mid irons.

Well, you get more yards (don't go there) with a hybrid, I get a big draw with mine but that's more to do with my swing than the club.
As per my previous post, it only works when I think it's an iron, so I think of it as a 4 iron.

I'll probably add a 19' to the bag.

Yer 19 would probably be my choice aswell to slot in between the 3 iron and the driver:cool:

Can anyone compare one to a 980f fairway wood as they look similar (well as similar as a hybrid can to a wood!), and was wondering if they played similar?

I can compare it to a 906 F2 if you like.
They're utterly different IMO.
I was thinking of a 5 wood again, but I'd rather have the precision of a hybrid.

Not quite what i was looking for :twitcy: , but thanks anyway.
It's just the sole shape's seem very similar to me so i was hoping they would play quite similar.

i have had and sold a 21 degree 585h (nv stiff) and yes its a good club, but i replaced it with a 23 degree baffler which has a ys 6+ fw stiff and is a wee belter , underrated utility in my opinion the baffler
