Why not buy a steel shaft and try it in one of your current drivers ( i`m guessing you have 6 or 7 lying about;) )

You can get a steel shafted Donnay from Sports World :D
I've just bought an old steel shafted Hogan persimmon driver for a tenner just for fun as it's been years since I last used one but haven't had chance to try it yet.
Creo, I had one - an old 976R - got the pro to reshaft it with true temper dynamic gold S300, worked great for a couple of years, then found out the young guns banging it 20 yards past me were graphite with larger heads (983's and such).
The new driver heads are so light, they don't suit a steel shaft. If your gonna do it, use and old style head...!

heads are pretty much the same weight anywhere between 196 and 204 gms you can re shaft just about anything into anything
head cog is further away from the neck on a new head in most cases reason why most are hooked to buggery - but if you insert a steel shaft it has the effect of bringing the cog back towards the neck

Creo, if your looking to try a steel shaft in a titleist i would not reccomend inserting the shaft full bore (all the way through). The shaft would play very stiff compared to a standard bore head. Adding to what Emax said on club weight, The shorter standard length of a steel shafted driver will make the club a tad lighter. It will still play pretty heavy if the head was shafted up for say a 65gram driver shaft. It will not though be a lead pipe to swing, just a tad on the heavy side.
