View Full Version : My nipple hurts

Well this is my first "season" and I'm very slowly working through the steps of becoming a 'proper' golfer. Broke 100 earlier in the season, got my first birdie etc etc.
This weekend I was able to cross off another 'thing that must be done to be considered a proper golfer' by being on the receiving end of an errant tee shot.
One of my partners tee'd off at the 17th as I was dumping my club unceremoniously back into my bag. At this point I was about 5 yards ahead of him, and 10 yards left of the tee box (so about 15-20 left of him). The next thing I felt was what I imagine being shot feels like. I managed to stay on my feet, while all around fell about on their backs, and muttered slightly less expletives than Sam The Eagle on an average tee shot, but had a very sore spot just to the right of my right nipple.
The pain subsided after a couple of hours, but three days later I have the biggest, yellowest bruise covering that delicate area and it bleedin' hurts. The yellow bit is about the size of my palm, and right in the centre of it there's a black circle (complete with dimples) showing where the ball hit.
So hands up who's been hit by a ball off the tee....and please tell me.... how long before my nipple will stop hurting ?

Can't say I've been on the receiving end myself. But a couple of years ago my father-in-law managed to shank a drive into a sand box near the tee - ball shot backwards and hit his mother-in-law square on... no lasting damage done, fortunately. Luckily they get on very well.

But did you play any better that day?
Poor nipples, always getting abused but not used :twitcy:

Golf Rules for Idiots.
1. Never stand in front of someone teeing off. Especially if they are a hacker.
2. If Rule 1 is to be ignored, wear nipple protection at all times.

I'm just lucky to be carrying a little loose flesh  in that area - if it had been someone slimmer and smaller than me I wonder what the damage would have been. Any volunteers for an experiment ?

Have you got a Titleist Logo imprint on your nipple with number 1 under it?
I've knocked someone out before a long time ago....:wub:

No it was a Srixon soft feel. The ball I mean, not my nipple.
Did he claim on your insurance 3PW? One of the guys in the bar had been paid out £4k last month for being knocked out a couple of years ago (by a golf ball)

I got hit in the leg a couple of years ago when one of my playing partners shanked is second from the fairway, I stepped back to avoid the ball but it was one of those banana shots and it was like following me
The bruise with the dimples was the funniest thing, and it took about 10 days to disappear

I nearly got hit by Simon Khan's ball at the PGA champinoships at Wentworth this year. It was a good job we were sitting down as it bounced straight over us.

I nearly got hit in the head by Shiv Kapur at the British Masters. His ball clipped the tree above and missed my head by inches

Srixon soft feel, guess you feel lucky it wasn`t one of those `hard` distance balls, they must really hurt.
Since your not badly hurt we can laugh about it.
The `man-boobs` came in handy did they.;)

I don't mind people laughing about it - wouldn't have mentioned it if I did! And they're not man boobs, they're (very) relaxed muscle :p

I have written of a similar experience before - I pured a three iron straight out of a fluffy lie and into the sawn off stump of a branch of a two foot "tree" in front of me. The resulting rebound catapulted into my left breast at a catastrophic velocity. This caused me much pain and my playing partner much merriment at the time. So I feel your pain! Luckily this was a good number of years ago now and the scars are only mental....
:D
Never hit by a ball but came close once to losing the crown jewels on the course.
On the local muni a few years back, standing to the side of the tee the waiting for my partner to play when this ball came straight at me flying low about 2 ft off the ground, luckily it went straight betwen my legs just above the knees.
Hope you recover soon-next time take precautions.

This post made me chuckle so much I thought I'd have to add my experiences. I've been hit twice, first time was a sliced pitching wedge from another fairway, the ball hit me square on the back of the head, he hit the ball so high I swear it had frost on it when it come back down to earth, it was like the cartoons with the birdies flying around my head.
The second time was in Tenerife, without any warning a cruise missile shot went screaming over their green and hit me whilst I was waiting to tee off on the next hole, the ball hit me just above the nipple, christ on a bike did that hurt! I had a multi coloured bruise for weeks. The bloke who hit was a German bloke who didn’t speak any English so didn’t shout any warnings but another German bloke who was playing another hole came over and was having some argy-bargy with him for not shouting any warning, then some other nationalities (Italian and Spanish I think) got involved, the whole incident nearly sparked a world war, I’m surprised the UN didn’t send in peace keepers, my Dad and I slipped off to the 19th hole and left them arguing, from memory a few bottles of Sol eased the pain
