OK I have put a provisional draw together for Sunday although I haven't heard anything from Bill Poster and Chopper will confirm his attendance on Thursday.

I will be trying to get there for around 10am to allow for Coffee and Bacon roll to be consumed whilst meeting everyone prior to the event

11:16 Keve, Ross, Slicerdude, Big Jim

11:23 Troon Stevie, Runonpark, Bill Poster.

11:30 Chopper, Old Novice, JohnC,

11:37 Foxholer, MisterS3, Gord

I have not cancelled the 5th tee time yet and I have 3 people who are yet to confirm so there is still time for a last minute entry.

The scoring will be taken as Stableford score using full handicap.

Prizes for

Best net Stableford (Summer Quaich Champion)
2nd
3rd

Nearest the pin 4th
Nearest the pin 18th

Scottish Long drive champion 13th

Best Gross on Par 3's
Best Net on Par 5's

A little bit different this year I have chosen at random 9 holes that will get a prize for best stableford score over these.

Last but not least (The wooden spoon)

See you all on Sunday.

After much deliberation I decided that best slice would only slow down play and due to Nike pulling out their sponsorship the prize had to be scrapped

GPS will be allowed on the day as long as Murrayshall don't have a local rule prohibiting it in competitions.

All players having played a practice round will be deducted 3 shots with a further 3 shots being deducted for using GPS

I will be hoping my playing partners have strong backs to carry me as I can't see myself relaxing enough to play well

Keve and JohnC have Sureshot GPS and used it yesterday at M'sHall. Might be worth dropping them a PM.

Be ready to spend all day tell me we're exactly how many yards we are to the middle and then watch me duff one 30 yards :D

I will be trying to get there for 10 (wife & 2 girls depending - they are dropping me off). I want to squeeze in a driver/wood session on the range first - I've not played at all this week.

I will be doing my best to spot the rest of the group, not knowing what anyone looks and trying to not look for dudes that look like their avatars lol

Have most of you met before??

The range is no where near the pro shop, so without wheels it might be a bit of a trek there and back unfortunately.

I look just like my avatar (had a wee haircut recently though :D) and have lime green golf bag you can't miss. And yeh i'm called Ian as is Slicerdude

Personally i've met 10 of the guys before but that's not to say i actually like any of them or enjoy playing a round of golf with any of them.

Although in saying that Troon Stevie is alright  Jon't let him suggest a club for you though. He might be wee, but he hits his irons 2-3 clubs further than i do - and that was before his new Wilsons and their jacked lofts! :D
Bill Poster i've not met but made me laugh with his "ebay feedback" story on me. And since then i've been too scared to post any of my ebay auctions up here :twitcy:

Sigh......

Here was me thinking I would take this event slightly more seriously than my usual knockabouts and try and keep off the beer over the weekend..

...so I am heading to the car after leaving the gym and I get a text from my wife - "get some nappies"... so instead of heading straight home without temptation I get to Tescos and the first thing I see are the special offers on beers - and no sooner am I leaving with two boxes of stella on special offer (and thankfully the nappies as well)

At this rate I will be tucking into a vindaloo on Saturday night as well.... :D

Just noticed Stevie has changed the long drive hole to the 13th not the 15th. The 13th is hitting towards the East. We were discussing whether the drive had to be on the fairway as there's hunners of fairway bunkers on the 13th, it'd be a shame for someone to melt one bang down the middle into a bunker.

I'd say that fairway bunker was fine. But happy with either decision - Stevie?
Personally i think somebody will fly it and so it shouldn't be an issue. Unless we are playing off whites?

15 was the par 5 dog leg to the left?
So same reason as 12 for me as to why its not the best choice i.e You can't see the landing area and it requires a shaped shot to stay on the fairway.

What is wrong with the stroke indexes?

Nothing in a Stableford, but a bit dodgy for matchplay. Par 5's are high No's par 3's are low. So should favour the higher handicappers that'll get 2 shots on par 3's but should level itself out over 18 as they'll only get 1 at the par 5's.

Can anyone that has played the course comment on the rough - i'm looking at the course using online maps and the areas for rough look minimal - just a lot of trees... - is that right??

The rough when wet is very hard to hit from. Jim and I tried rescues from the clover on the right of the first and didn't get it more than 20yards.

I thought that it wasn't that tight and but the tree's and rough will come into play off the yellows, so it might not be driver for a lot of holes, unless you are confident about your direction. I mean that on the longer par 4's the fairway narrowed at 230 on 2 occasions i remember and also there are not too many straight holes, so the line you think you should take is not always correct/rewarded.

Annoyingly for me, my memory of the course from Monday is already fading.

Hate to say this but tomorrows forecast is a shocker, 100% cloud cover and some seriously heavy rain.
I'll phone the course today and see what the chances are of it closing.

Today in Edinburgh is a shocker - went to the gym at 9 in a downpour and when we came out at 12 it was still chucking it down.... fingers x'd for tomorrow - you never know it could be a scorcher, right :twitcy:

You never know, that's what happened at Letham, it was absolutely bouncing 20
minutes before the 1st tee off and had been for hours then the skies opened and it was glorious.
Stevie I'm not sure if the forecast changed or I was looking at the wrong thing, I'm sure it was awful when I looked.

Well Gullane area confirms it's 'micro-climate' reputation.

Forth was absolutely calm as I passed by Longniddry Bents - currently a 'Ferret' camping ground - and played more in shirt sleeves than waterproof. Shot interestin mix. but mainly v good - I'll blame GPS giving me confidence. 1 under for the par 3s; Holes 7-11 went Double, Par, Bogey, Birdie, Eagle!:rolleyesw: . Finished up 3 over gross, first time I've broken par on a 9:D .

That's buggered any prospect of playing well tomorrow then. :madw: . If only I could do that in medals:( :(
