I have a much loved Ping Anser but the grip is beginning to harden/crack around the base and look tired.

The questions I have are

Is it easy to re-grip a putter oneself?

If so briefly how is it done?

Can anyone recommend a grip? (i quite fancy a coloured one)

Thanks in advance

Re-gripping is easy. All you need is a Stanley knife, some double-sided tape and some white spirit. Cut the existing grip, remove all remaining tape, apply new tape, pour white spirit generously inside the new grip and over the tape, and push the grip onto the shaft, align then let it dry. Simple.

There's a vid on the Dynacraft website which is very useful, I'll try and find the link.

As for a choice of grip, especially a colourful one, Winn AVS are great

Thanks for the reply...further (dumb) question...I assume it need to be a specific putter grip?

(my Anser has the flat fronted ping grip but not wedded to that)

no law against ordinary round grips, but putter grips (flat fronted) are most common.
When fitting the putter grip, take time to make sure that the flat front is at right angles to the putter face all the way down.

Done one quickly myself and found that the putter was useless until I changed the grip again...

Most pros only seem to charge a few quid plus the cost of the grip for regripping, so personally I'd rather pay the extra and be sure that it's done properly!

aligning is easy, and you've got plenty of time to get it right before the white spirit dries up

I agree that aligning is easy and I believe that I will give it more care and attention than a pro.

I just bought a Golfsmith grip removal tool so a good grip can always be removed and reused.

have a look on ebay in the golf section to get an idea. I'm sure some will recommend some good places to buy the stuff. Actually a lot of sellers will supply a couple of strips of tape when you buy a grip.
If you buy a roll go for 2" wide, not 3/4" which is a pain to use

Some sellers will supply the double sided tape in individual pre-cut rectangles.
I find these very difficult to peel off the backing paper. I also like to cut them in half because I prefer to wind the tape down the shaft.

Go for a roll of tape if you get a choice.

I've been using GolfGrips-Direct (http://www.golfgrips-direct.com/) recently and have been very impressed with their service.
They stock grips, shafts, accessories and tools. They even added a product to the website that I inquired about.

Scott,
As previously stated the Winn AVS is great grip, available in nice bright colours. I have a nice orange and black one on my Scotty and my new Yes came with nice multi colured Winn. I have gripped clubs in the past but generall Pro's will regrip your club for only about a quid as long as you buy the grip from him. If he knows you probably do it for nothing. Pay the quid a lot less hassle getting tape, white spirit.
