Looks a nice course - and a bargain!

I know Southerners think Britain stops at Watford and Windsor, but pushing a bit to be 'North' isn't it - apart from Wales?

How many are playing - if space could get wife to play too and make a weekend of it!

Also - how serious is it? My wife hasnt broken 100 yet, but gets it round fine as she hits is short but straight!!

Where is Didsbury? and would I pass it going M5 / M5?

We still have spaces left so your wife is more than welcome, we already have have a lady golfer comming in Aquarius

I dont think it will be very serious more of a friendly knock.

If you want to make a weekend of it. Aberdovery Golf course is about an hour away (ish i think) They have bedrooms to hire, I think its £75 per person whicn includes Breakfast and a round of golf.

Check out http://www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/htmlsite/productdetails.asp?id=142 and http://www.aberdoveygolf.co.uk/dormy.htm for more info, looks a crackin course also!

Hi guys,

Every thing is confirmed, first tee is at 15.38.

So say arrival at 15.00 at the latest, earlier if you would like a bite to eat.

I wont put out a list of who's playing with who until we are all confirmed and present on the day and we can sort it out from there.

There is only approx 12 of us, Andytrow can you still not make it?, Euro's and Ian can you make it and Marker is your mate comming? Wilo, come on you know you make it!

To add some interest, Fieldsly has asked me if we would like to make this part of the Winter League, Its a pound each, I will be up for it anyone else?

Also maybe a £2 kitty, closest the pin and longest drive, winner etc and i will purchase some balls for the winners?

Just to elaborate a little on this.......all of the Northern society events can be part of the Winter League (as long as there's 4 (paying) people taking part in each event) - so it won't be long till everyone has their mandatory 3 rounds under their belt :) All of the entry money will be used for prizes...........

Well it pissed down!
After 4 holes I doubted we would get round.
It was rain occasionally interrupted by heavy rain.
Steptoe and O.M. had no water proof trousers and were soaked to the skin.
Fortunately the heavy stuff stopped and the back nine was played in almost entirely dry weather.
The course was great...a good test and very enjoyable links golf.
Good company and terrible golf all round...a great day.

Nice to meet you all and thanks for the organizing duties Neil.:)

I am sure there must have been some doctoring of the card! Shooting 83 in pissing down rain without a wet weather glove and every time we looked back you were muttering cursive words while trying to find yet another errant shot in the rough! All this with a supposed handicap of 20! hehe

Goodshooting True, almost goods as Liverpools on saturday!

That's harsh fellas...I was only in the rough by you guys twice and both times found my ball...it would have been hard not to hit the green with the first as it was only 10 feet away! Once I put the driver away I didn't have too many problems.
Anyway, it was an 82 not 83...and I am off 19 not 20.... I resorted to no glove after the 4th!

Shot an 84 down south last week so am going in the right direction...hope it holds up for Weds medal.

What did we all shoot in the end?

Steptoe

What did we all shoot in the end?

i'd rather not talk about my score,
i went from totaly rusty to a bit of flow then back into the old bad habits in the space of 18 hole, had my chipping and a few good puts not gone in i'd have scored really really shit instead of just shit

great scoring by you tho TB

O.M
03-09-2007, 10:29 AM
Well it was a fantastic course, company was great, golf wasn't so much but all in all a great day out and i enjoyed every minute of it even with the crapp weather.

Links golf is defenetly a must if you play this game.
I haven't got a clu what my score was but i know it wasn't good and to be fair i wouldn't care less.

i would deffo play that course again the best tenner spent on green fee. the first 4-5 hole not to bad but nothing special IMO but then WOW rest of the course was a beautie and the view    .
We couldn't be any closer to the sea than that ( only way would have been to play on a boat).

Thanks Rob for persauding me to carry on after I ended up in a bunker on my second shot :D have never been out in the rain for that long. You and H were great company, was very layed back and unrushed.

My score was erm, more than I care to mention.:twitcy:
I didn't feel like I played to badly either.
Robs score was nothing short of a miracle.
It's a shame we didn't take a cam...some of the holes were very difficult and if you went into the rough there was no way out as Steptoe and I discovered.
At one point we both ended up throwing the ball out.(literally)
I was told the other course in Llandudno is the better of the two but for me,this one is far better.
The last 6 holes would test any golfer.

My Score 89.

48 Out and 41 back in.

Played pretty tidy with out really clicking, was quite happy with my score considering the weather (sideways rain) for the first 9 holes.

Already looking foward to going back and playing it again, Having played conway golf course ( 5mins away) a couple weeks back which is considered the premier course in the area having just held the ladies amature championship, although in slighty more " mancured" but in terms of hole qualilty tha last 12 holes of North Wales Golf course is far more interesting and is up there with some of the best i have played.

those last 4 holes near killed me, next time i'll bring a mountain goat to drag me around :D but those last few holes looked stuning
looking at some of the guys teeing off and walking past the clubhouse i did think its gona be a typical holiday course full of non golfing tourists, but was far from the case- the greens were great even with all the water that came down (tho the very slight sea breeze may have helped)

will deffo return-may even see if an odd scottish bloke fancies it too

Have just looked at my card again and I would have been disqualified for signing it...it was not an 82..it was in the end an 84! But having been in the shit on the first 3/4 holes I am really pleased. Played the front in 45 (par 37) and the back in 39 (par34) for a nett 65 and 42 points. Second 84 of last week! After a blip it all seems to be coming together again.
H got and 87 for 35 points.
Jo did incredibly well and got 19 points for the back nine after she had warmed up!
Overall it was a lovely little course and was a fair test if you left the driver in the car!
We should play it in the winter when the wind gets up...then it is real links golf!

To be honest Ollie, I have played in worse! The rain was pretty drizzly so you got soaked but there was not much wind. Come up to S&A in the winter and you will see what I mean.
