P.H would you recomend your smt irons for a high handicap player, I am looking to replace my set of cheap iron i got when i started the game and now that i am hooked on the game and getting better wish to upgrade.

I have been looking at the usual supect from mizuno and TM but it seems that those SMT have good reviews and don't mind to go with a lesser known brand i know the smt driver are really good.

funny you ask.....had a similar chat with mister about a 20 handicaper....
firstly is a confidence perspective...do you prefer chunky irons or classic lines?
second is whats your striking like.....i know high handicapers that can hit irons well but cant put
all i will say is that i am around 15 h/c hit slightly but consistently just of centre....but the cb1 and cb2 suit me really well....brimming with confidence over the ball and are the most forgiving i have tried
i would also recommend you talk to shaun at midas he helped me no end and let me bend his ear many times before deciding.....

Thanks,

will give the guys at midas a call. I prefer a classic look, hit the ball pretty well and straight get some bad shots( as everyone), but the main problem is my driving Keep loosing balls  which make my scores shoot up.

My driving was pants at the start of the summer. I ditched the drivers and used a 3 wood for a few games ... had the same problem, the ball just went higher. Then changed to a driving iron, which worked for a while.

Eventually I just started taking only the range to try and sort it out. After a few weeks of trying I got some straight shots and eventually got the point of trying the driver again. I still hit a couple wayward but most of hitting the short stuff. 80% swing and easy tempo will regain some of the confidence.

Overall I found it more worthwhile to drop back to another club off the tee, and guarantee a fairway 2nd shot. The trips to the range are a worthwhile place to practise the big one.
