I've commented before about this but yesterday once again confirmed to me that the Callaway HX Tour ball is an exceedingly good wind ball.

It seems to penetrate through the wind better than most when hit cleanly and holds its line well too.

Agreed Si. But in my opinion the Callaway Warbird is a better ball (with same fundamentals) but much cheaper!

I played this ball in the height of summer and liked it. Slightly harder feeling than some premium balls, but span well and good distance. Maybe overpriced slightly, but a good solid ball nonetheless.

The Warbird goes miles, but not so good on the softness front, a bit 'clicky' for my tastes. Very good value, but prefer the AD333.

I'd give the HX Tour a 6 out of 10. It was good in the wind, but distance off the tee was poor in comparison to ProVx or TP Black. Into th greens there's a nice amount of spin, but still only a foot or 2 max more than the harder premium golf balls. Around the greens it's a good ball, checking up nicely for most every chip shot. I hated it for putting, just the very soft feel off the putter isn't for me. Last thing, it's not a durable ball at all. Just more durable than the ProV, but nowhere near the TPs for durability, getting knackered after 14 holes of play

I played the hx tour for about a month or so but it just didnt have the same feel or distance i got from the pro v1x i was previously playing.

I have tried the HX and the HX 56 and found them Ok, but they both felt and sounded sort of 'hollow' when putting with a non-insert type putter.
I use ProV1's, not for any spin or distance reasons but for the nice feel they have when putting.

Hollow, that's the feel. I like the firm 'clickiness' of the TP balls, makes you have to make a more positive stroke to get the same sound

Probably shouldn't say this as i am selling some but "hollow" is exactly how i found them.
Thought maybe they didn't suit me but it seems other folk feel the same way.
My short game has gone to worms since i started using them.

HX Tour is the shortest of all the premium balls. Its expensive. It doesn't putt well. Its one upside is it does hold line in wind better than most. But for the cost it just no way remotely competes with a ProV ball.

Don't agree but it's horses for courses.
