i currently have what i consider the best set of clubs i have ever owned..but i do have a slight concern

my 2 rescues.
integra sooo long with a graf prolaunch
smt avocet with a TT release

both these clubs are ace...really ace!

but they feel so different to each other its playing with my mind.
integra swings really light and avocet heavy

could i remove the head on the integra and add a swing weight? and how do you know how much to add to make the clubs swing similar

try this website for an online swingweight calculator for finished clubs...its probably not as accurate as a proper set of swingweight scales but will at least give you an indication of how far out your clubs swingweights are from each other. all you need to do is to weight your clubs and find out how far from the butt end of the club the balance point is.

give me a few minutes and i'll also figure out a nice resource that explains a whole load about swingweighting and what affects what

PH,

The first thing you can do is take them to a local pro or shop that will do adjustments and ask him to check them on his swingwight. This will give you the appropriate balance point (swingweight).

Alternatively, you could use a spreadsheet to work out the swingweight of both clubs if you have the technical data available: Head weight, Raw shaft weight, Raw shaft length, Grip weight and Club Length. I’ve attached a copy of the spreadsheet to this post (just fill in the boxes) (source: Tim Hewitt, myostrichgolf.com). However, remember this will be accurate only if weight adjustment has not already been done, thus the ideal way is to place it on a swingweight.

If the Integra has a lighter head, i.e. lower swing weight, then you don’t have to remove the head. There are a couple of options to add weight and my preferred would only involve removing the grip and tungsten powder down the shaft with a cork to hold in place. Shafting rod is the ideal tool to push the cork down, however a very long stiff pole would do the trick. Also a bit of epoxy on the cork doesn’t do any harm and if you do it yourself be firm but not brutal when pushing in down the cork.

With regards to how much to add then the spreadsheet will help (& a set of scales) however if you can get hold of a swingweight then just pour down the right amount of powder until it matches the avocet. I can’t remember of the top of my head weight of tungsten powder per swingweight but sure someone will advise shortly  .

Before you do all this you do have to option to stick lead tape to the bottom of the club first to get a feel for whether you do actually want to change the swingweight.

cheers lads.
i think that the lead tape is a great solution as i could muck around with different amounts to find the rite feel for me.......than at least i will know how much weight to add to the club with tungsten powder :)
