Do any of you have nightmares about golf? I've had this recurring one for years and always wake up in a cold sweat.
I'm on the 1st tee at my old club, Palacerigg, I'm preparing to take my shot when I suddenly realise I'm standing on a wooden table and I can't get my tee to in, I mess around with it and eventually get it in but struggle to get the ball to stay on it as the table isn't level. Once I've got the ball to stay put I find that the table is too short for me and my heels are hanging off the back I try all sorts of set ups but have never taken a swing at that point I usually wake up in a panic. It uaually lasts for about 5 minutes or so.
Any physico-analyists out there like to tell me what it means? Or piss takers who want to comment?

I can't think of anything that happened there.

I dream about golf all the time, even when I'm awake, it's usually when I'm on the course I have my nightmares.

I don't know if it's just me but I wait all week for a game on a Saturday or Sunday and the night before I can't get to sleep. It really is what I remember waiting for Santa to come was like as a kid on Christmas Eve. I don't think I've ever needed my alarm clock to get me up for a game and I'm always knackered because I haven't slept.

I`d say the table represents your workplace...your own desk! ...and by thinking about golf all day this action undermines your position within the heirachy of your office. The struggle to get the tee into the table represents guilt, guilt at thinking about golf during worktime!

The difficulty in getting a foothold/stance on the table/desk represents either your inward desire to leave the table/desk in question, to seek another job or someone is seeking to push you from your current position within your workplace...!...also the smaller the table becomes, the more vulnerable you are, to any headcount/changes that are forthcoming with your employers plans!

.......either that, or you had too much cheese before bedtime!

Keve, that is spooky because I have had that dream a couple of times. One difference is that I am also trying to hit it through a tiny window onto the fairway!

I've had similar dreams in the past:-

Unable to get tee in -
When I do I'm unable to keep the ball on it -
Realise when I've teed it up that some object (house - tree etc) is in the way so I have to go through the entire procedure again.

not had any golf nightmares.........but in my teens i used to have mares about fighting my best mate and was unable to punch him....thrown a punch that would stop before it reached him...until 1 day we had an argument and i kicked his ass.........mares never came back

i spose the tee problem could be along the same lines as my punch problem...............................in summing up i would recommend you kick the shit out of a 100mm tee and see what happens ;) lol

not had any golf nightmares.........but in my teens i used to have mares about fighting my older brother and was unable to punch him....thrown a punch that would stop before it reached him...

Actually my wife had that dream where you want to punch someone but can't last Saturday morning.

That someone was me.

I woke up as she sunk her teeth into my shoulder.

The not-being-able-to-get-the-tee-in is a common one and actually discussed in a number of psychiatry text books - here are some links:

It's a fairly typical dream, especially with men who feel their 'member' is a little inadequate, and its interpretation is pretty obvious really.

You're obviously a very young soul then as you can't have advanced far up through the seven astral planes.

Not golf related, but as a kid, E.T scared the crap out of me and I had these vivid dreams that I was in my house and I fall down and E.T appears above me and I can't move and I can't scream

Bloody scary :o

That is spot on Keve, the amount of crap I have watched on sky cos I can't get to sleep when playing golf the next day is untrue. Usually a 12.30 lie down with alarm at 6.00 but always well awake before that. This weekend was great cos could get up and watch a couple of hours of Tiger before setting off, its usually "Shells Wonderful World of Golf" if I opt for the Golf Channel route
