Started my lessons at Ufford today where I've got a set of 6 booked for £50. The driving range is top notch there as well.

Met the pro and he asked me whether I wanted radical changes to try and get to single figures and a quick fix. I'm determined to reach a decent handicap(at 21 at the moment) so I'm going to get drastic changes to my swing etc.

Started out hitting shots with my 7 iron and hooked every single one of them rather than the normal large draw :eekw: topped a few as well and he then spotted I was standing too far away from the ball causing me to cramp up. He also noticed by posture needing a revamp :o so he got to flex my knees a bit more and get my head over the ball. Then he had me narrow my stance as its incredibly wide due to my 'power stance' :D for my driver. This also created a better shoulder turn and after a few thins and the occasional good shot 150+with a hint of draw.

I began to get used to the changes and struck the ball a lot better mostly with a little bit of a draw with 80% around the 150-160 mark which suggests I need a stiff shaft in hybrids and my driver. I was also far more consistent and much more accurate as a result. He spotted that my grip was also far too strong but he didn't want to change everything at once so that's for next lesson.

He gave me a few drills as well so I'm looking forward to my next lesson on friday. After my experience I'm glad I've chosen to get some lessons and its a great to improve your game.

P.S sorry for the long post.

 You and alex should compete though as you both have the same handicaps.

:) Can't wait.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantage leftie, with my broken wrist :(

Managed to get out on the course today and walked most of holes with my mates who were playing. Did a fair bit of chipping and putting and my touch is still pretty good.

Tried a few longer shots, but most were crap, because I'm not 'trusting' the strength of my wrist and not commiting and getting through the ball, the result is either a top or an evil shank

Managed a Par on a Par 3, which I was quite proud of considering I'm a cripple at the moment :)

Don't rush back too soon!! Ask PH about doing permanent damage! Its definitely not worth it.

I know, it's hard not too though :)

Chipping and putting certainly doesn't affect me, so hopefully going to keep doing that for a while and possibly get down the practice ground in a few weeks :)

Well, now i know you'll kick my ass - if you're gonna concentrate on your short game! :D

It normally gets me out of the crap when my long game fails and gives me a decent score :)

I quite enjoy practicing chipping, bunker shots, putting etc, because atleast I don't have to go far to fetch the bloody balls like I do with the driver :p
