Let me know when you have a half day open - I will take you there - cheaper during the week, obviously.
Wow, that would be great Triple XL ... I only work three days a week, so midweek would be ideal! I have a few pre-arranged games to play yet, but I`ll p.m. you sometime thereafter!

Camberley Heath?
Heard lots of good things about it.
If an invite is there I'd be very pleased to pay pilgrimage.
Maybe you would kindly host a 4-ball of 3 MG visitors?

Anytime Creo. In the interests of keeping costs down weekday is best :)
I will probably be at the club sometime today, so will check out if any deals exist etc.

BT & Creo,
Thursday is the only available day next week. I cannot make Wednesdays and Friday the course is closed all day for a pro-am.
Checked today - cost is £27 during the week.
I will be going up there tomorrow so, prviding that is OK with you all, I will try to book a tee time for between 1 & 2pm.
That will make 3, if a fourth wishes to join us, you will be most welcome. C-B-C can we tempt you?

Triple XL,
Thanks for the offer, but I won`t be able to make next Thursday....so have a good game gents!...I`m due to play fellow MG member Donut on Friday, so at least I`ll get a game one day next week:) !...weather permitting :(
Cheers anyhow, C-B-C :o

Tee time booked. Earliest I could get was 2.24, lets hope the weather is similar to today :)
If you need directions, have a look at the club website: http://www.camberleyheathgolfclub.co.uk/map_directions.htm you can use the zoom icons to see more detail. If you use a sat nav system, the address is : Golf Drive, Camberley. Alternative, send me a PM.
There is a practice area with a net if you want to warm up, but there are no range balls - you need to bring your own. The alternative is to go to the range at Pine Ridge GC which is only a couple of miles away.
I will plan on getting up to the by about 1.30 and will be in the bar. When you enter the club house, the bar is straight in front of you, go in and ask for Anthony Lawrence.
Looking forward to meeting you guys.

My son complained the greens were a bit slow today! I felt they were not at their quickest, due to all the rain yesterday, but they were not that slow. They should be good Thursday as there is a pro-am the next day.
They worked on them last week (aerated and sanded) so there are the odd bobbles, but these should be gone by Thursday if the current weather continues.

Great, see you then, and thank you for the invitation.
Oh, and if you see an old geezer wandering aimlessly and looking lost please come and claim me.
BTW Do you guys carry or use trolleys?

I use a powakaddy, there are a few slopes on the course !
SLOPES?!!!!
You mean hills, mountains and stuff?
Bloody hell, I'll need a double strength shot of senatogen and my patented elastico-footjoys that put a spring in the step.
Triple XL
24-09-2006, 07:14 AM
Just a couple :) Actually in places the slopes are quite steep but thankfully not very big. Take the 10th for example, you have to hit a driver/3 wood over the hill into a valley, blind tee shot, then a 5/6/7 iron approach over another hill, which thankfully you can walk round, onto the green which is 40-50ft above you. As for the 18th, my powakaddy nearly falls over backwards going up the slope to the green
If you are concerned about the slopes, then we can always get you a buggy :)

Oh man, :( wish I wasn`t working Thursday :( .....gutted!
After your round of golf, can someone buy me a packet of cheese puffs from behind the bar!....(just so that I can be there in spirit):(
C-B-C... :(
Triple XL

Not so sure about the cheese puffs, may have to be crisps, nuts or pringles :)
We can always arrange another day :D

From what I remember of Stoneham, they are similar. Thankfully our 18th is not such a killer as Stoneham's :)

I played 36 holes at Stoneham last Sunday, and nearly died. Got to the stage where my mate thought he may have to get someone to come and take me off the course in a buggy. But 18 with the PK is ok.
At least I have a premade excuse (tiredness) for when I play crap this week at Camberley. How many shots do I get?
Is there a half way house thats open mid-week?
CBC - You only live once, take a day's holiday or a sickie day and come join us, you know you need to.

The half way hut is after the 10th. The girls that run it have a habit of leaving early, so keep your fingers crossed that they are still there when we come round. They normally look at the start sheet and decide when to leave based on how many people are going to be on the course.
If they have left, you can always duck into the pro shop after 14 to get a drink/bar of chocolate.

Creo & BT,
Just want to say thanks for the game today. It was a great afternoon, one that I believe was enjoyed by all and a good job the rain stayed away, although it did try to spoil our fun a couple of times.
I am too modest to put the scores on here, suffice to say I think you guys found CHGC to be a good test of golf. :)
CBC, shame you could not make it - you missed a really good afternoon of golf.
Many thanks once again Creo & BT.

Wonderful afternoon's golf in great company. XL and BT are very fine fellows to enjoy a thrash around the links with.
The inaugral MG event went very well indeed and bodes well for the future.
Camberley is one demanding course, but a fair test and a super clubhouse and course condition is fab. Scoring there aint easy, yet Triple XL seems to have found the technique!
If you get a chance to play with these fellows, grab it!
Thanks for being a great host XL, and I look forward very much to our next adventure when you can be sure you wont win so easily :)

Gee, guys..sounds like you had a great day! Having not seen any of your scores listed here, I can`t help but think I might have won if I`d played ;) ......by holing that 35 foot snaking putt on the last green like I mentioned earlier Lol :D
C`Heath sounds superb...I don`t think Leckford is in it`s league chaps :(

Scores? We used the 6 point per hole game, Xl won it easily.
In terms of actual scores, we didnt record them.
Discussed after and we came to:
I shot +6 (putting grhhhhh)
XL shot approx +10 I think
BT a few more
We didnt burn up the course :)
BT@Home
29-09-2006, 07:43 AM
I burnt up the course for the first 4 holes (Par-Bogey-Birdie-Birdie) .... I should have given up after that though, as it went quickly downhill after that, took until the 18th to get it right again :(
Oh well, it was great outing, and I would reiterate what the others said about the course, clubhouse etc. Certainly the most important part is that Creo and XL were great companions ... always useful to be with Creo as he carries extra shoes etc with him all the time :)
Thanks again to XL for the opportunity.
