PP - please don't kick me off for posting a link to GM :)
I notice there are quite a few Scottish members here including the Admins.
I am pretty sure you also members of GM too, so why not come along to the GM Scotland day out on Oct 1st?
Take a look

Might be a good way to get to know enough people up here at least to start the society thing?
Would also be a good way to meet fellow Moonies (yeh need to work on that!) :)

Ian,
1) It's not up to me to kick people off, it's Gord's site, and he has the final say in things.
2) The GM mods have made you paranoid! I'm still just a poster like the rest of you.
3) I'm not sure the 'Moonies' will catch on! :)

Okay no need to be nice to you anymore LMAO :)

I guess its a bit like when you get a knockback from a club on a night out...not that that's happened to me recently but i have a mate who hates bouncers with passion because he got knocked back from a club probably 10 years ago! :) Although from what i remember you aren't old enough to be clubbing! Or am i mistaking you for someone else on GM?

Okay back to the drawing board :)
Cheers Dave - i'm off home now. Catch you tomorrow no doubt.

Nope, 16 and tee total. I can't stand the taste of alcohol.
Dear me, 16 years old, non-smoker, tee-total and playing golf. Could I be much more of an outcast, lol! :)
Right, back On topic!

Christ - I've got socks older than you!

I live 15 minutes from Letham Grange and would love to go but I just get back from Riotville the day before so it's a no-no really.

Where is Letham Grange?
Is it on the East coast near Dundee?
I know I've heard of it, just can't remember where/when.

Maybe you should stick to decorating that weekend! Unless you promise to wear newish socks i.e from this century :D
PS - hope you can make it. Always good to play with better players eg Keve and Stephen Wilson (so far)

I've never played in Scotland and would love to, so if you every arrange a few rounds in the summer (i.e. when its not likely to rain!) I'll be there.

Nice to know Misters3 thinks I'm a better player but for the Golf Day at Letham i shall be the humble bus driver. :)
Please feel free to come along and even join the magical mystery tour by bus
Not advertising just trying to get my status up to long iron at least.

Scott - as per Stevie's post: There is a minibus doing the trip from Troon, to Kilmarnock, Glasgow, Dullater and onwards. More the merrier and there are still spaces on the bus...see the GM thread :)
Stevie - welcome to MG :) Gord you were replying to on GM is the head honcho around here :)

I think that should be addressed to Shanker, Ian. I'm only 15 minutes from the course but will just be back from Hungary so will miss out.

Hope the weather holds up for those playing at Letham Grange. It can be a bit of a beast at the best of times but with no run will be fun. There are 3 holes which I think are very memorable. (they keep changing the starting point every time I play there so not sure how they are currently numbered). There is a par 3 reminiscent of the 16th at Augusta, ie, all carry over water to the green, which is almost an island, a par 4 driving down hill probably laying up short of the water with the approach over the length of the water and a par 5 with a double dog-leg.
Enjoy the golf

Just a quick note on the GM day at Letham Grange.
After raining constantly all the way there and even in the morning before tee off, the sun came out at midday just as the first group were teeing off. Amazing weather for October!
I have to also say the day was really well organised. Rob even got some clubs for prizes - keep your eye on ebay for a benross hybrid :) (not me - i didn't play well enough!)
The course was in really good condition. The tees were quite forward and so a little bit of local knowledge (eg the double dog leg par 5 - one of my few good holes which i par'd) would have meant quite a few of us not using the driver so much. Some of the blue (championships) tee were nowhere to be seen - some more than 75 yards back!
The craic was excellent and it was a really good day.
It was my first competition and first time i'd played stableford properly and i learned a lot from the experience. eg. I thought i was playing rubbish and kinda mentally gave up around 13 but i'd amassed 16 points on the front 9. The winning score was 38 - so i wasn't that bad in reality. Lesson learned. Keep track of scoring!
There will be photos and a write up on GM which i'll post a link to here.
There is also talk of Winter Cup (there are already Spring, Summer, and the one that was played for Autumn cup) for Jan/Feb on a links course on the East or West coast. Again, expect a post here with details.
All in all, i'd throughly recommend the day out to anybody who was apprehensive about signing up. It was my first one and the guys are a great laugh and so even if your golf isn't at its best, you're pretty much guaranteed to enjoy yourself. And you'll also get invites to play some new courses - eg there is a game at Eastwood today i was asked to go along to, but my back won't let me!
See you at the next one!

Not really. Most of the guys i know have already come over, and the rest may or may not come over in time.
I did get the mickey taken quite a bit about getting banned from GM :) But then it was that kinda day. :)
Expect a few new members though :)

Are there some other Eastwood members on one of the sites then? Still needing somebody to sign a couple of cards for my handicap.

Jim - it was a guy called Ross who came along with Garry Morrison (from GM). Ross is a top bloke.
I didn't get to see him swing (plays off 10) but i was told it was a cross between Darcy and Furyk! :)
I'll send Garry a link to this thread. Hopefully he will be in touch.
Cheers

I played with Ross yesterday and he did seem like a top bloke. I'm sure Garry could put Jim in touch with him and he'd be glad to sign a couple of cards.
Ross plays off 10 with his very unorthodox but very effective swing. Ross and Kev were could company and the crack was good. I liked the idea that the bus seemed to bring a larger crowd together for pre and post round chat.
I wonder if Ross and garry would be up for the game Jim is Trying to organise on Sunday. That would be 1 card at least Jim. :)

Good call Stevie....
Jim - Post a thread in Play section and i'll forward it to Garry to pass on to Ross by email - i still don't have a phone so didn't get his mobile.
BTW - Stevie thanks again for all the driving.
We'll have to get you a cap or something (case of irn bru?) for the next one :)

tis indeed a good idea. Just need to clear a couple of things up about the weekend (going to see Tutti Frutti in Edinburgh on Saturday night and not sure if I'll stay through there) and I'll post it
Glad to hear that all went well, just sorry I missed it.
I played Letham of the Blues a few weeks back, amazing!
decorating's done now, for the time being!

Ged - if you played it off the blues, you'd have surely been a contender for longest drive on Sunday!
Surely the decorating is never 'done'!! :D
