Went to the range Sunday past and left fine, but woke the next morning with pain in my side and around the back. Feels real tight and my whole left side feels very hard. My Pyhsio tells me the same - that the left side is raised and bulked up while the right side is normal.
Went to the range again last night (what a session too) and woke again this morning with another "stinger" in my side. When I twist golf style it feels like something is stretching wrong in my side.
What exercises can I do to strengthen my side/back. The physio is creating a programme for me but I wanted some feedback here.

I'm no expert QC, but I've always thought that sit-ups and lower-back raises are the basic exercise for core strength. But you need to be careful you're doing the right sort in the right way. It's easy to make things worse.
Pilates is good too.
Listen to the physio.
Very specifically golf related, isn't the leaderboard supposed to strengthen those muscles?

Try doing planks and side planks. That will strengthen your core and sides without the stress of situps.

Lie on you side on top of you elbow.Lift your hip so you are supported by your elbow and your toes. If you are feeling brave then lift your top leg a another foot up.

To do the plank you have to get into a press up position, instead of having your arms to the side though, you have your forearms lying flat on the ground underneath your chest. You then hold your back parallel to the ground. Try three lots of 15 secs to start, then increase your time.
When you know how to do a plank then a side plank will make sense.

Hope that helps.
