HELP!!!!!!!!!
ideas wanted for my ailing swing
i have a hook............
needless to say i have a strong grip and an overswing,
now before you all shout at me i need to say that whatever i try i cant really practise enough to groove in due to sciatica.
in my eyes the easiest fix should be a more neutral grip, but the adjustments in the grip affect the feel of the swing really bad on the way up and i just cant hit the shot.
as for the overswing its my natural swing of which i'm stuck with, i have tried a more restricted swing but end up pushing the ball right.
i am now toying with the idea of having the left thumb down the centre of the grip but having my hands in the old position..this will leave the face open at address but at least my swing would still feel the same.
any ideas anyone ?????

I had a year long case of the hook a few years ago that nearly made me quit.
One piece of advice worked for me - "long and slow".
A strong grip isn't a bad thing. Overly strong is a problem, but if you are thinking that left thumb down the centre of the shaft doesn't feel to bad, then I doubt your grip is too bad. (can u get a photo posted to confirm?)
If this is case, then alignment may be to blame.
Your feet hips and shoulders should all point slightly to the left of the target (like railway tracks.... on the same plane as the ball flight). Then the swing thought should be to bring the clubhead through on the same line as the target. If you concentrate on this then you shouldn't go too far wrong.
If the grip is too strong in both hands, then I'm sorry my friend, but there is no easy cure. You need to practise holding the club with a weakened grip until it becomes natural.
It isn't by coincidence that the top pros go back to checking grip , stance and posture every time they hit the range....
hope this helps...

i think you could have hit the nail on the head regarding alignment.i am prolly guilty of closing up my stance.......specially short iron
will give a slighly open stance a whirl and see if i can work out a comprimise
Be careful! - don't open too much - think more of aligning your body parallel to the clubhead, which should be pointing to the target....
stick in and let me know how you get on...
