As some of you may have noticed from the Shopaholics thread I have recently become the proud owner of a gunmetal Nakashima NX-1 52* gap wedge.

Purchased for the grand sum of £34 including shipping from the states and last night I whipped out the DG X100 shaft and replaced it with one of my preferred Rifle Spinner 5.5 shafts.

Took it down the range tonight for a quick hit.

Niceshot had allready told me about how soft these fedges were but nothing really prepared me for the total squidgy feeling quality that this wedge exudes.

The recent Crews Spinmax wedge I reviewed revealed itself to be pretty soft after a while, but this thing was like a hot date who couldnt wait to reveal her deepest secrets to you before you'd even left the pub.

The very first hit brought a wide grin to my face and nothing changed as I hit ball after ball after ball down the range marvelling at the buttery softness of this wegde.

A bit difficult to judge spin tonight as there was a strong following wind that at one time saw me hitting 8 irons 170yards on the fly but i'll definitely be putting this club in the bag for sundays medal.... in fact its so good i'll probably update my signature in a few minutes to reflect my new found love!!!

Interesting Nick. I've had an interest in these before.

Can you tell me about the blade length - is it about the same as most 'Tour' type wedges (Vokey/TM RAC TP/Mizuno, etc.) or, as I'm hoping but can't tell from the pictures I've seen, a touch longer heel-to-toe like the Cleveland 588 or Mizuno MX Series?

Grateful for any info.
Cheers.

Definitely more compact than my Cleveland 900 BRZ's...from memory prob 1/4 to 3/8ths of an inch shorter heel to toe. If it stops raining outside i'll have a walk out to the car to confirm this.

I'd LOVE a new 56 degree wedge!

Although I love the SV from the turf, I find it has too little bounce for me to get out of the sand.

Any change of divulging where you sourced this wedge (via PM if you prefer) as I'd gladly spend £34 trying one out...?

Was it new?

Is so, could you let me know the sellers name....

Nearly new, maybe hit a dozen times, seller was not a golf retailer... seems to sell mostly disney movies, baseball bats and sports clothing.

Thanks anyway!

Looks like the best I can find is £42 for the head in the UK (That is for the forged NP1 though.....).

You still got that DG X100 with a grip on it kicking around? I'm not sure of my SS, but I guess as it is a wedge it will be ok with this X stiff ...
