Well, I took a break from my school work tonight and went to see one of the funniest films I think I've seen since Life of Brian, its just so wrong & racist & anti-semetic. I'm amazed that it got past the censors.
The guy is a genius.

I saw the film on on Thursday night and must agree that it's very, very wrong, but very, very funny. Right up there with South Park: The Movie and Team America as side splittingly funny cinema experiences. You know that you probably shouldn't be laughing, but you just can't help it...
I can't stand the man. I saw his pathetic attemt at comedy on Jonathan Ross last week and it was awful and totally unfunny.

I'll agree the JR show wasn't his finest moment......
Personally having seen his show since it was a filler on Paramount, and more importantly the fact that the Stu compares it to Team America, i'll make time to see it :)

Borat!: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
Horrifically funny.
SouthPark hasn't even got close to being this offensively funny.

Having watched the movie...i'm amazed he made it back from the US alive!!
But there is that hotel room fight (i won't say anymore so as not to spoil it) from which i'm going to have to therapy to recover

there was an article in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago, about this Turkish dude who apparently is the original model for Borat
http://www.ikissyou.org/
He now has a bit of a cult following, although no one knows for sure whether he's for real or just a prankster. But the resemblance with Borat is striking (check out the pics of him playing ping-pong, dancing etc. Only the swimming trunks are a bit more conventional).
Now the page seems to have evolved and some bits of text have disappeared, like where he used to say:
"I like music , I have many many music enstrumans my home I can play
I like sport , swiming , basketball , tenis , volayball , walk .........
I like sex
I like travel I go 3-4 country every year "
the line about sex has been removed (Borat says that in the first minute of the film), but the original page is saved elsewhere (http://www.istanbul.tc/mahir/mahir/). But there are more pics and some vids now.
Best line of all has got to be this one:
"Who is want to come TURKEY I can invitate .....
She can stay my home ........"
Russia have said they're not going to allow the Borat movie to be distributed as it shows disrepect for their good neighbour Kazakhstan

I think that the most amusing thing is the number of letters and reader's reviews I keep seeing in newspapers accusing the film of being anti-semetic. Do these people not realise that Sacha Baron Cohen is Jewish and that the film is pointing out the extreme anti-semetism that is still rife in much of the world today (especially in Muslim and Eastern Block countries)?
Oh the irony...

and in the western world obviously. Cue the reaction of the guy in the gun shop when asked what he would recommend to kill a jew, the guy doesn't flinch and recommends either an 8mm or a 44...

I remember the IKiss you guy well.......
I was working in IT back in those days and that was the kinda thing that kept us going (remember the law firm and that girl's email regarding the 'taste' of a college etc).
The Ikissyou guy made a fortune on tv appearance in the US at that time. Not sure if he made any money off the mechandising.
But yeh the simarities between Borat and the Ikissyou guy are quite obvious.

I'm off the same opinion - how'd he survive.
I'm just starting to recover from the hotel scene, :spinny: the security guys seemed to be getting pretty aggresive with him as they dragged him away, but the other thing which made me laugh with that was the black rectangle that constantly grows in size as the scene goes on.
