Let`s just say that the various golf tours banned the 4 inch(ish) tee.... do you think it would help golf courses defend themselves against the onslaught of modern golf clubs/drivers ? The 460cc driver would perhaps struggle if tees were only allowed to be 1 inch in length.....it would be difficult to catch the ball on the upswing...me thinks, especially having seen how high they tee it up when I`ve visited Wentworth during the BMW Championship!
I`d also make it illegal to make your own grass/turf tee (like Laura Davies does) to avoid them making a 4 inch tee.
It`s an easy law to enforce, and might help some courses defend themselves against the `bombers`...or do you think it would make no difference whatsoever!

I don't think the difference would be huge, they would almost certainly be forced to drop the driver in favour of a 3w, or a strong lofted fw. Manufacturers would probably start making tour drivers with smaller, shallower heads, because the pro's don't need that much forgiveness.

...okay, how about taking a drop on the tee.... , then play it as it lies.... , that would add some drama to events come Sunday evening(s)!
It would also add some serious `dropping practise` around the world! ;)

Eh? My tees are 2 3/4" for a 460cc driver, why would they use 4" tees?
IMO the Pros don't need 460c drivers, they use them so that we buy them.

When I was at the Ryder Cup I was surprised by how low all the pros teed it up, I don't think it would bother them at all.

Having learnt driving the ball in the persimmon era, it still seems strange teeing the ball so high nowdays.....almost as if the persimmon clubs are haunting me and saying...."...CBC, if you tee it up that high you`ll only go right under it, scuff your persimmon and have to get it buffed and re-varnished.............again" :o
Got to get with the programme................

They still have the capability to hit a driver/3 wood 280 yards + off the deck, so wouldn't make much difference really.

Vijay actually does it by choice...eg Mercedes at start of year.
But no tee golf would be another fun version of golf to try out.

On a similar theme, our society has a longest drive feature, where we all use the same persimmon headed driver:- brings up some interesting results:)
