in my right hand - seem to have a problem with my grip.

I'm a right-handed player and it really hurts sometimes (especially my fingers).

Does or has anyone else suffer with this? If so, any suggestions/advice on what I can do to make it better?

Thanks.

Maybe because you are gripping too hard

If you are gripping the club properly as a new golfer, it does feel very uncomfortable for quite some time.

I've recently had my left hand grip adjusted to the corrrect position after a year of playing with it in the wrong position and its still uncomfortable.

But i'll also guess you're maybe applying too much grip pressure.

Speak to your pro about it, as they will be able to check you are gripping the club correctly and explain the correct amount of pressure. But it should be a lighter grip, rather than a tighter grip.

NO NO!! I'm not making any comments about gripping shafts with a lady!

Very funny you lot:tongue:

Ian - Thanks for your advice. Have already spoken to my pro about it but I seem to have slipped back to my old ways - tut. I think I will have to ask one of the other pros there to take a look 'cos I can't have my pro touching my hands again (I went completely wobbly  )

Apparently the handles are quite big (even though they are ladies clubs) maybe I should try some different clubs?

Hi Aquarius,
grip pressure sounds like your problem. When holding the club at address and when starting the swing, the pressure should be akin to holding a small bird.... tight enough not to let it move, but not enough to hurt it.

(better than the toothpaste analogy... I think.)

your grip will automatically tighten (a natural response) as the swing progresses, reaching it's tightest at impact.

hope this helps.
