Me, my dad and two friends went to the belfry recently. We got a 2rounds & 1 night stay deal. We set off about 5am, arriving at the belfry at 8am. My first impression was shock at how many facilities were there.
We had a cuppa, had a look in the well stocked shop then went for a knock to the range. The automatic ball feeders were handy, and a basket of nike balls was a refreshing change from the crap normally dished out at my local range.
At 11am we teed off on the pga national, there was hardly any wind but it was pretty chilly. The greens had been hollow cored recently and the mix of sand and speradic burts of snowfall made putting quite tricky, the combination of both left the ball covered in what is best described as wet sugar. Inspite of the putting being card wrecking i enjoyed the course, my front 9 wasnt great, my back nine was better. the highlight of my round was a fairway bunker shot at the 521yd, s.i2 par5 12th. I was in a large bunker on the right side of the fairway, a good way from the green after 2 shots. I nailed a blind shot over the mounds to about 4ft, and a birdie:D
We then had a few pricey beers:eek: and went to our rooms, which were nice. After a shower and clothes change we went to the Atrium for food (inclusive in price) the food was awsome, with plenty of choice. The following morning we had breakfast there that was equally as good and was a great way to start for the day ahead.
We had a 9am tee time, only this time we were playing the Brabazon.
Again i started poorly on the front 9, going from the previous days greens to the brabazons greens was took some time to judge their pace. The course was fantastic, the greenkeepers do a great job there with some great holes, nice features, and several risk/reward shots to go for. One of my friends got a bit  on the 8th, after finding a lake, stream and taking three shots to get out of the bunker, his bad luck continued as he tried to throw his wedge at his bag only to miss it  and land it in a big stream . Again the back9 was my saviour, doubling my front9 9pts with 18pts on the back9 for a 27pts total. The 18th is a spectacular finishing hole, I hit a driver over the water onto the middle of the fairway, hit a 7 iron left of the green over the water. Having to chip over a bunker onto a sloping green the ball rolled an wide of the hole and down the slope, just missing what would have been a fantastic birdie. Missing the par putt didnt take anything away from the enjoyment i had over the two days there.
My first ever visit to the Bedlfry was an experiance i thoroughly enjoyed, and i look forward to going again.

Good to hear you enjoyed it.

You must have hit a big drive to be hitting 7 iron into the 18th

love reading these sort of threads when it involves the belfry always puts a smile on my face :)

if you go in the summer it would be muchos better greens run perfect on all 3 courses.

driver 7 iron is a awesome combo on 18th as the 150yrd plak is just before the water hitting into green.

I played there a few times and the first time i hit 9 iron in to 18.My friend alongside me hit wedge.

Ive also come up short with a 3 wood second shot, hitting as good a drive as im able to in the conditions that day.

Like anywhere in the UK,so wind/weather dependant i guess.

on 18 i didnt want to go in the first bit of water off the tee, so i gave it everything i had.
Usually when i do this i get good distance but i also get quite a bit of a slice, so i aimed well left to compensate. Only this time it went as straight as an arrow over the trees on the left and onto the right hand side of the fairway.

EUROSI'm playing the Barbazon at the end of the month

hope you enjoy it as much as i did!:)
